Annoying everyday situations that change with daily yoga

Since starting my day with a morning yoga workout, I find myself applying yoga and meditation principles into different daily situations. It has helped me handle what would normally have been a negative situation in a more positive way.

We all have conflicts in life with others whether they are big or small. And often as human beings we tend to react to them on an impulse as our emotions take over which can often make the situation worse. Since I have begun to practice yoga and meditation every day, I approach life with a clearer mind. I stop and think through what is going on and consider the best way that I can deal with the situation.

Irritating email from my boss

Typical reaction: Become a keyboard warrior and reply with an aggressive email.

How I react now: Go and do something else until I give myself time to chill out and come up with the most productive response that will help the situation rather than add fuel to the fire.

Fight with a flatmate

Typical reaction: Raise my voice and say negative things out of frustration.

How I react now: Excuse myself, go to my room where I can take a few deep breaths and calm myself down before returning to the situation and logically sort through the issue together.

Car breaks down

Typical reaction: Start to panic and maybe cry.

How I react now: Take a second, collect myself and think what can I do to deal with this situation now instead of wasting time being stressed. I now accept this is just one of those things that happen to everyone at some point, it is not the end of the world.

Practicing yoga goes beyond just the routine itself, it affects us in how we interact with the world around us. It has really made a positive impact on my life.
