Artist Quote

My design journey started exactly where I expect all of my artistic adventures to begin...with 'Butterflies in My Stomach'..that jittery hunger of creativity that is essential to all creative people as a prelude. The kind that keeps you up at night. In art, as in life, there will be darkness, there will be doubters, there will be self-perceived barriers created by your own mind. There will also be the true colour of happiness that freedom brings if, like the butterfly, you have the courage to change. Change is the essence of life. Nothing symbolises this more perfectly than the existence of the butterfly. There are not years or even months in a butterfly’s life, only moments. As if to remind us to spend our own given moments treading lightly upon the planet with a readiness to surrender what we are, for what we could become, seeking opportunities to create beautiful differences wherever we travel and releasing the fear to fly regardless of what the caterpillars may say. As my own design journey comes to an end, it is my hope that, in wearing my designed Legskins, your journey continues to flow with Courageous Freedom. Stay Courageous Become the Butterfly.

From the Heart

Persephone Singfield, Heart Director of Courage My Love says this about Courageous Freedom: Vick and I met for the first time on Skype. She is rather popular in Australia for her airbrush and signwriting talent and also known as the place to go if you want to get your motorbike or car on the cover of a magazine. She could pretty much guarantee you a magazine cover with the quality of her artwork. Vick is also proficient at freehand pin striping – a near lost art. I heard through the grapevine that Vick loved painting butterflies. In our first meeting, I discussed what being an artist in residence for Courage My Love was all about. Vick was intrigued and excited about the idea. She then asked what we had in mind regarding a concept. I told her we wanted butterflies. I can still hear her voice exclaiming over the internet, “Are you kidding!? You mean you don’t want tits, ass, flames or daggers! I’m in!” Apparently, it was the first time she’d been commissioned to paint a butterfly, and she LOVES them. It was a long journey to get from that first conversation to the finished artwork. When they arrived, all packaged up it was just like Christmas. Opening them up to see the work for the first time was amazing. We have the two airbrush paintings in our collection and they continue to wow audiences with their quality and charm.
